Light Up Your In Home Garden With Grow Lights

Do you have plants around your house? This year we went for the gusto and have ended up with 17 plants between the porch and the house. 20 if I count the tomato plants. Aron had a blast planting and potting the hanging baskets and I had my first attempt at tomatoes. Just for a happy update, I am already producing tomatoes!

We wanted to start growing our own plants inside the house that will be safe year-round. Since seeding was so easy in the spring with natural light we have been researching ways to do it inside. The best way we have found so far is by using lighting made specifically for plants. You know me and Amazon, I found affordable lights that are easy to use and don't take up a lot of space with stands. They can go anywhere I want them!

What is so cool about grow lights?

Grow lights are made just for plants. The 20 red and 100 white LEDs make light that would replace full spectrum sun that replicates noon sunshine. How cool is that?! I am a total newbie when it comes to plants. I have the kind of green thumb that makes artificial plants wilt. This year and the tomatoes have blown me away! I can grow ANYTHING!!!

There is so much more to lighting than I thought. With outdoor plants, the sun does its magic all by itself. Plants get what the sun has to offer and that's it. No switches or timers are involved at all, super easy, right? When it comes to indoor plants it can get complicated if you don't have adequate lighting. You have to make sure they get what they need to live healthily and produce fully. Using grow lights, there are different mode options to give you the best light source at all times of the day.

Let's get to the good stuff!

What Grow Lights Did I Get?

I got an inexpensive set of lights from ST.MARY TINO on Amazon. It's the Grow Light Strip, Full Spectrum Grow Lights for Indoor Plants. It's a kit that comes with everything needed to start and grow your favorite plants indoors without the need for transferring them back and forth from the inside to the outside.

What comes in the package?

Like I said previously, everything you need comes in the kit for lighting.
  • 1x Grow Light Strip(2 strips 1M)
  • 10x Lashing Tape
  • 8x Thread buckle
  • 1x Double-Sided Tape

What does full spectrum lighting mean?

Full-spectrum light is light that covers the electromagnetic spectrum from infrared to near-ultraviolet, or all wavelengths that are useful to plant or animal life; in particular, sunlight is considered full spectrum, even though the solar spectral distribution reaching Earth changes with time of day, latitude, and atmospheric conditions (Wikipedia)

  • Full spectrum grow light is suitable for almost all types of indoor growing plants. It emits all the wavelengths from 380nm to780nm – similar to sunlight more highly uniform light for plants, increases growth rate, and meets plant germination, growth, and fruiting.
  • 660nm Deep Red Light is the peak wavelength for photosynthesis and photoperiodism, best for blooming and fruits.

What you get with lighting strips is a full spectrum light with no disturbances. You can set your own timers to replicate the times of day and how many hours you want of light and dark. Plants vary in how much light they need daily so make sure you research what your plant needs specifically and set your timers from there.

Full Spectrum Grow Light Specifications:
  • RA:95
  • Input voltage:5V*2A
  • Lifetime: 30,000 Hours
  • Material: Copper+PVC
  • length: 2 strips 1M led grow lights

How can I use the grow lights?

It's really cool how versatile the lights are. You can set them up where you want to put them. A plant cabinet, a shelf, or even set it up in a room in the open. All you need to do is make sure your plants are in the range of the light to help them get the lights they need. I was looking at the setups on the listing page and my favorite setup is the plant shelf with the lights above. The strip light kit makes it easy to use on various fixtures and surfaces.

What plants can I grow with grow lights?

Simply put, nearly everything! You can start seeds all the way up to full-grown plants, and germination with this set of grow lights. You can easily grow flowers, fruits, spices, succulents, and more. If you want to grow it indoors, you can!
