Don't Cut The Vacation Short- Use AmWell #spon #MomTrends

I was compensated for this by Momtrends on behalf of AmWell, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Happy Summer Everyone. I want to tell you about something very important that I think you will really appreciate. Something that I have used and will definitely be using again. It is AmWell. I have wrote about AmWell before and I am so happy to be sharing another visit with you.

I was able to get my visit for $1 and you can too using code TELEVISIT5 in the payment section.

First of all, AmWell stands for America Well. It is an online doctor that can see you and also prescribe medication to get you back on the road to healthy without having to leave the house. This is perfect for all year round but, in this case it's summer, we are traveling a lot and making and keeping appointments is a little rough.

Not just that, 45% of Americans lack meaningful access to transit. That means that even making an appointment in some households isn't a guarantee that a doctor visit will be achieved. If it is, the follow up may be avoided all together.

Where as with internet, 92% of Americans have access to at least a cell phone, tablet or other device that is totally acceptable for an AmWell appointment. That is VERY IMPRESSIVE to me. That closes the gap so much. People that couldn't other wise be seen, now have access to a medical professional.

To some of you this may be confusing. When I first heard of AmWell all I could imagine is a doctor on video chat saying push on your belly, now describe what it feels like. That's not the case. They are thorough and ask all of the right questions to be able to make a diagnosis and get us back on the road.

Some of the common reasons for visiting an AmWell Provider are the following:
  • Bronchitis
  • Sinus infection
  • Sore throat
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Fever
  • Pinkeye
  • Flu
  • Sprains and strains
  • Cold
  • Respiratory infection
  • Headache
  • Depression & Anxiety
  • Weight concerns
  • Smoking cessation
Some more info on AmWell:

Created by doctors, AmWell is:
  • The most popular consumer telehealth app worldwide in 2014 according to App Annie
  • The first telehealth service awarded accreditation by The American Telemedicine Association
  • The first telehealth platform to integrate with Apple’s Health App
  • The only service that allows you to select the doctor you want to see for an on-demand visit

Below lists the rational and emotional reasons clients and consumers to believe what we say and use our product/service. Included are all major copy points and visual evidence listed in order of relative importance to the client/consumer.

  • Lower cost. Consumers expect online visits to be cost-savers; with in-office visits costing, on average, $82 for first-time patients according to the Healthcare Blue Book, AmWell offers a $49 physician visit – a savings of $33. Great option for students in college looking for cost-effective healthcare or those between jobs and without insurance.
  • Accessibility.  After hours, on weekends and in the middle of the night (24/7/365) availability. Great for those who do have transportation or when you don’t feel well enough to drive and those who are newly relocated and don’t have providers yet.
  • Convenience. Consumers are looking for a faster appointment. Now they don’t need to schedule an appointment nor do they need to wait to be seen, especially if on vacation or business travel. The doctor can be seen from the comfort and convenience of their own home.
  • Quick prescriptions. Consumers would rather have an online video visit than an in-office visit to obtain common primary care prescriptions.
  • Peace of mind. Rather than self-diagnosing or visiting a social forum for medical advice, users can obtain second opinions directly from board certified, licensed doctors.
For this appointment, we are traveling. It has been such an amazing time for our whole family but as you know, things happen on vacation and you need to be seen. This is the case of Holy Cow we are all sunburned and 2 days away from getting home. To be completely honest, I would love to just go back home and call it done!

I am so happy to have AmWell in our corner. I have had to cut trips short before because of semi-emergancies before. It's no fun. AmWell has had some amazing advantages. There was a call-out on the cover of the WSJ this week and front page takeover in the Medical section of the Journal.  American Well (AmWell) is positioning itself to be ‘the Amazon of health care’.

Chloe and Niko have amazing skin color and tan so nicely. While Abby and Cassie on the other hand, are ultra white like me so they burn too. So we are relying on AmWellto get us to where we need to be. I was able to get an appointment set up in less than 5 minutes and had my doctor on the line that was including testing my computer and filling out my info.

I was paired up with Dr Jennifer Cornelius a Family Physician with 14 years experience. She is so nice to talk to and was really down to Earth about the whole visit.

The best treatment for us is all over counter, no prescriptions needed.
Ibprophen as directed on the bottle
Benydryll if it's too itchy
Cortizone cream on any spots that may be too bad.
SPF 70 is the best to use and the trick is reapplying it.
And to keep it from getting worse, since we will be out in it again traveling for the next 2 days; light weight long sleeve top and hat. That way the sun won't even be able to get to the burn.

I think that was my problem yesterday. I put it on but, sweated it off too fast. Even if it's water proof. you have to reapply regularly.

I was really happy to get this info before having to head back out. Last night by the time we got settled in at the motel, Aron looked like the fisherman on the old Tom & Jerry Cartoon. It's not funny to make fun of him but, he's my husband and he knows I mean well.

Thanks so much to AmWell and  Dr Jennifer Cornelius for helping us NOT cut out family vacation short.

  3. This is awesome!! I don't have insurance right now and I suffer from horrible migraines. I can't afford to pay for an office visit that costs $75 a pop plus the prescription costs too. Love it!

  11. OUCH! Sunburns suck...shame on you guys for not wearing sunscreen...LOL ;) SO glad to hear there is a solution for when you're feeling unwell and don't want to spend the time and money on a doctor visit. Amwell sounds like a great solution.

  15. This is a wonderful idea. We are always hesitant to take our slightly sick grandson to the doctor knowing he will be exposed to other sick kids in the waiting room and having him expose others.
