Do you remember being little and the woman in your life showing you tips and trips on all of the beauty secrets? I do! My Great Grama Velma. She was so awesome to me. Giving me all of life's secrets that took her decades to master, I was the keeper of those secrets and boy, was she right, I would remember but, not understand until I was older.
One of the things she told me was to always blot my lipstick. Softer lips are always better. :) So she would let me pt on her brightest most stunning colors. The texture was a mix between clay and play doh and had this smell that when even today, if I come across it, can bring goose bumps and tears.
That lipstick had to be blotted to give it the soft look. She was a woman that was young in the 1930's, she knew how to make that classic beauty, I loved watching her get done up, even though her fresh young face was hiding under 6+ decades of experience by the time we met,
She would use tissue or toilet paper to blot her lips and kept tissue tucked into her wrist watch to wipe her face when she needed to. I will never forget that, My sister Heather and I would play in her powder and stuff and would delicately fold our tissue in half and "POP" our lips on the tissue.
