What do you prefer? School lunch or Brought In Lunch? Our daughters likes both. When we pack their lunch and we try to make it special so they will know it's just for them. Our kids dont like the same stuff in their lunches so if they grab the wrong bag they will know.
On my list is always the note. Aron and I have laughed over the years because they know if I made it or he made it. I always add a simple note in the lunch box. There are a few reminders that I have to keep for myself.
#1 The Note
It can't be too noticeable in case another kid sees. That can make a great lunch the worst lunch ever if the wrong kid sees a note from Mama in the bag. Make it short. I don't want the kids spending their whole 35 minutes trying to decipher the text.
No matter what it says make sure to add in, Have a Great Day, I love you. Although our kids are growing and branching out on their own, I want them to know that I am always thinking of them and how amazing they are. I don't think there is anything wrong with that little mid-day reminder.
Just a hint, use small paper. Sticky notes are perfect because you can't go overboard on the writing.
#2 The sandwich!!
There is something about a sandwich that is simple and can be so personal. Each one of the kids has their own things they like. With crush or without, meat or peanut butter, mayo AKA Sammich Glue or slippery stuff AkA seasoned oil, Toasted or not toasted bread. It's the little things that will make or break any toted in lunch.
The number one thing with a sandwich is the cut. I always grew up with 1/4 triangle's. Still, to this day, I cut my sandwiches in 1/4 triangles. It makes it taste better. When my mom did it, I could taste the love, I would tell her. I loved bringing a cold lunch to school.
Now, I have found something a little more special. It's the Crusty's Dolphin Sandwich Cutter. This thing is so cute. Press it down on the sandwich, just like a cookie cutter, and there you have it. 2 dolphins with a heart inside. That makes the pieces the perfect holding and eating . It's 3 pieces instead of the 4 triangles.
This is just so fun. The cutter us the perfect size for all bread types an cuts right through meats and cheeses. It's the perfect this for any sandwich. All of our kids love it.
#3 Snacks
The snacks are really important. I always pack double on the days they bring their lunches because I know they share. I an so proud of my kids for being so good hearted. They like different treats so making sure they have the right sandwiched in the right bag, with the right treats, YIKES. One is a salty the other is a sweet.
I love being these guys Mama. They make life so much fun and so adventurous. I swear I am still learning every day. Products like this sandwich cutter are so cute and make even something like a sandwich grow our bond that much more. I love it!
