What do you do to keep track of all your family? When we go on trips, we have kids so, we really like to hit up the amusement parks, zoo, aquarium, and any shopping centers we can. The only problem is the kids like to do different stuff, at different times, and it seems like someone is always getting slighted if we try to do everything as a whole group.
We have decided to loosen the grip a little so the kids can be their own individual people. With that freedom, we have set boundaries. I am not COMPLETELY okay with letting them be free but, we are working on it. We can work on trust and let them prove if I let them do what they want, on their own, they will stay within their limits and can be trusted.
I have found something that is very helpful in letting them strengthen their wings before they take their own flights into this big huge world.
You may have heard of it before, GeoZilla App It's the Family Locator App!! It works on Android and iOS so, all of our devices are covered and I don't have to hear the lame excuse of, it doesn't work for me. I personally set it up on all of the devices. What can I say, I'm Awesome! We can all be ready to go and I know where we all are. I don't have to worry.
So I can open the app and see in real time where everyone is. It shows their name, location, and how far away from me they are. That is so awesome. Right now i'm sitting at my desk and Aron is in bed. It says he is at our address, 1 ft away from me, +/- 78 feet away from me. That is correct!!!
It's battery friendly too. I can't tell a difference of any battery drainage when using it.
When we were in Asheville NC a few days ago, it showed him at the motel when I was at the gas station. It gives an address and everything. This is very awesome.
What I love about this is I know my kids won't go anywhere without their devices. They would leave their arms at home before the leave their phones. This is a perfect solution to the issues we were having with the kids wanting to be able to go where they want.
Abby is in band and has to travel a lot. I worry about her while she is gone and I have wondered on occasion if she is where she is supposed to be. She is 15 and very responsible but, she is 15! She likes to walk to the park with her friends, and go bowling and things like that.
This app lets me have the peace of mind knowing I can see where she is without having to ask 100 times. Then on top of asking, waiting forever for a reply, then wondering if she is telling the truth. I can just check in on her now, know she is ok, and go back to what I was doing.
As some of you may know, Aron adopted Cassie. She is my daughter from a previous marriage. My ex husband was absent from her life until she was almost 7 years old and then wanted to be a part of it. He wanted to bring her places and do things with her. I let her go, against my better judgement. She was 8 for the story I am getting ready to share.
The one and only time I let her go on a day trip, if was a fimily trip with his long time girl friend and their kids. But it ended up not just being that, he decided since that is his daughter, he was going to take here where he wanted to take her.
He was absent from her life for over 6 years and in his own way, blamed me for not getting to know her. This was all about to come to a head, and no one but him, know the real plan. It was partly to make sure they all had a good day together but mostly to prove he could still do as he wanted. My biggest fears were coming true.
The more I called to check in, the more irritated he got, the more he wanted to prove his point. By night time, she was scared and wanted to come home, I was scared for her and wanted her home. I had no idea what to expect.
What was a 6 pm curfew, turned into a midnight adventure. She had no way of getting a old of me because he wouldn't let her call. I didn't even know what state she was in. He told us they were going to one place and took her to a different state to go somewhere else, without letting me know. She didn't know any better and was having fun at the places they stopped along the way like putt putt golfing and some other fun stops for food and what not but, as it got later and later, we all knew what was happening.
I was at the point of calling and reporting a kid napping, it had gone too far. He wouldn't let his girl friend call me and let me know what was going on, he made her drive. He had his pregnant girl friend, her daughter, and Cassie and wouldn't let them go. They were basically hostages. In his mind, i'm sure he thought that the only one that would be upset over this would be me but, he was wrong.
When I finally got her back that night, it was so late and everyone was shaken. If I had something like the GeoZilla Family Locator App back then, by 6pm when Cassie wasn't home I would have been able to report something of her where about's. This would have been a blessing to have.
Now I want to share some facts with you. Did you know that over 200,000 kids are kidnapped each and every year by family members and an additional 58,000 by non family members? According to Quora, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reports these kidnappings. I have linked it to the image below if you would like to check it out.
Why I brought that up is because that is what I felt like was happening with my daughter and I could have prevented it by using the GeoZilla Family Locator App. This App offers so much more than just locating your family and checking of kids. I can chat with everyone in our circle.
I can ask Aron to grab milk from the store, or if he's home to make sure I took the meat out of the freezer, or anything like that. I can remind Abby that her bus is departing at a certain time, or check in to make sure there are no creeps following her to the park. I can ask Cassie if everything is okay and she is having a fun time.
I can message everyone at one time. "Hey guys meet me here in 20 minutes" or "Come home by 5 for dinner" Or my favorite- "I love you bunches, have a great day!".
Believe me when I say, I know there is a lot of apps out there that do something amazing. This one is one that does more than amazing, it lets me know where my family is. That is the most important thing to me.
I have these guys in my circle but you can have up to 12 people in your circle. I think this would be a great idea for class trips to the city or anything like that. I would be comfortable knowing that my kids are being tracked by their chaperones. This is just an all around great idea. It is so easy to use and very reliable.
This app locates up to feet in distance. Not miles or km but feet. This is so awesome. I have been playing around with it for a few days and I love everything about it. The possibilities are endless. When the kids come down from Illinois and they are on the bus for 27 hours, we can know where they are and when they will be close. This is so awesome.
This is a free app to download and has a pro version that only costs $4.99 a month or $49.90 per year (2 free months). It's really awesome and available for everyone on any budget. I love working with companies that are conscious of the customers best interest!
The thoughts and opinions of this app are 100% my own. If you have any questions about this app or would like to see your awesome product here on Amy & Aron's Real Life Reviews, please feel free to email us directly at [email protected] or [email protected]

This is so awesome. I wish I had this when my children were young. I spent so much time worrying. Thank you so much for sharing
ReplyDeleteMy kids would enjoy this.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great app, especially if you have teens!
ReplyDeleteAfter thinking... keeping track of the location to which family may be located might be just a download feature away!Exploring and curious, they can often find themselves in places that would otherwise mean they went their own direction. At this point, I cant afford much but this might allow me to be able to keep track of where the relatives may be at the time a medical situation is encountered. Thanks so much for sharing this giveaway!
