One thing that they absolutely LOVE to do is make slime. We have gone through (no exaggeration) over 100 bottles of Elmer's Glue so far this summer alone- at least. What I get them plus what they spend their allowance on. I have found slime stick to just about every piece of furniture, floors, and even ceilings but, it keeps them occupied and it's creative so I try not to lose my mind over it too bad. :)
Another thing they like to make are face masks. I can honestly say, I enjoy watching them use the face masks with glue. I laughed until I cried when my oldest daughter made a charcoal mask. I think she may have not followed the directions all the way but, she looked like a dirty cracked plate and screamed a few times peeling it off. Her skin was amazingly clear and so soft when she was done. Not to mention very dirty looking.
Another thing that we just got into is transfer paper for clothing, backpacks, and other fabric. Now, this is very cool. All it takes is sketching on the transfer paper, put it on the fabric and iron it on. It's so easy to make anything super unique and custom.
So, I got the transfer paper as a review product. I had never had it before, I didn't know how to use it at all so I watched a bunch of youtube videos and figured, it was pretty easy!
The transfer paper came with 2 free bonus items. #1isg a cool e-book with the tools and what they do list and #2- Teflon paper to help with the iron process. I don't have a heat press so I used the iron on method. I am assuming that most of my readers are a regular people and not amazing professionals with a heat press at home. Honestly, I don't know anyone with a heat press.
So, I drew a few shapes to get a feel for it and it was instant, I'm a beginner-pro! It's so simple.
Drawing on the paper is pretty simple. I just used a pen. It was a rough draw, I'm not an artist. You can print on this paper, I tried it but, my printer didn't like it. I think I have the wrong kind of printer. I tried ironing it on and all I had was the backing that showed up. My picture was in between the backing and the fabric. So, that's when I decided to be a tad more primitive until I figured it out better.
I used scissors to cut it out. I only had bulky pieces so I didn't need to do any weeding on the paper. There are weeding tools to pick out the spaces in between the design. these pieces are big enough to get several cuts per sheet too.
I put them down on the fabric shiny side up. Putting them in the right order is really important. I watched a few iron on fails that were pretty funny. I was hoping to avoid it all together.
I set the iron to the desired temp, I was worried that I was doing it wrong and I was going to melt the cover paper into my iron. But guess what, I didn't! It was on a medium heat setting and it didn't take long, less than a minute. The vinyl was stuck to the fabric and the cover paper was ready to come off. Super simple right?
It has literally taken longer to type the How-To part than it did to iron on the transfer paper. This is so cool to add that little bit of pizazz to any fabric. You can cover up spots on favorite clothes, make an ordinary backpack into a one of a kind backpack.
It's super easy and fun. I received this product to facilitate this review. If you have any questions please feel free to email us directly at [email protected] or [email protected]
