Beach Ready Checklist: Top 6 Things To Help You Prepare

We love going on trips during the school break times. I love being able to spend time with the kids when we don't have the school routine in the way. The kids love to swim. There is a public pool downtown and every time we travel we look for lodging with a

pool. These guys are water babies for sure. So, we have to get everything packed and ready to go. Packing up doesn't have to be a nightmare. I can easily become one but it doesn't have to be.

Make it easy on yourself!

Make it easy by simplifying. Kepp all of your swimming gear in one place when you are not traveling. It makes loading up so much easier. During the warmer months, we usually keep it all in the trunk so we don't have to track it down when we want to use it.

Sun Block

It's so very important to keep your skin protected. If it is not motivated because you are an easy tanner, just keep in mind what old leather shoes look like. The leather is hide. Hide is what is hanging out of your suit.  You do not want to look like an old shoe in 65 years.

Swimming Suits

Do yourself a HUGE favor and don't trust last years' suit. Try it on at home. I can not stress that enough. Do Not wait until you are on your trip to try the suit on. I have had to go all the way back to town to get a suit and cry the whole way back because the suit I needed was a bigger size.

While I am on that topic, get one early in the season. There is nothing like going to the store on a whim and not finding a matching set or a suit in your size. You don't want to sacrifice your style and comfortability because you were too trusting.

Towels

Always make sure you have at least one towel for every person. If you can, bring a few extras. In my experience, one or two of the towels always get used on a spill of some kind.

Extra Clothes

My rule for the kids is always bringing one extra outfit. When they throw their clothes that they had on over their suits, they get wet and wearing wet clothes is no fun.

Water and Snacks

It's so important to stay hydrated. When we are out in the sun and playing in the water, it's easy to forget to go get a drink. Plenty of water is what you need. As far as snacks go, keep it light. I don't recommend anything milky or greasy. You really don't want to feel bloated or "yuck" when you are swimming.

Swim in groups

I have a very strict rule of having a swimming buddy. It's very important to make sure if you are in distress that they can help you along the way. Swimming in untrusting water can be very risky. A parent or other grown-up should always be along for the fun. Not only does that make it safer for kids, it's a great excuse for a day off. "The kids made me do it".

Thanks for checking this out. Please be very safe while out and about in the warmer weather. I received this for free to facilitate this review. If you have any questions about this product, please feel free to email me directly.
