Taylor Toy's Over The Door Basketball Laundry Hamper Is Awesome

Getting kids to clean up after themselves can be tricky. One of my biggest complaints when it comes to the kid's rooms is clothes. Every time I walk into their rooms and there are clothes draped over every piece of furniture and in piles all over the room. I'm not over exaggerating when I tell you that I can go into my daughter's room and it looks normal.  A few hours later I can go in there to tell her dinner is done and it looks like every hanger and drawer refused the clothes it was holding.

Why this bothers me so much is, we have a family of 5 living in the house. 3 of which are teens. We easily do 2 loads of laundry per day just in clothes and towels. On the weekends when we change out bedding and all of the random stuff, the washer and dryer don't get a break.

When all of the clothes that they try in search of the best outfit ever, don't get but away, they end up making it to the laundry eventually. Even if they haven't been worn. Over the years, I honestly don't know how many times I have washed clothes that were still folded because they never got put away so they had show marks on them.

So, what can we do as parents to make them WANT to pick up their clothes? Find a way to encourage them to pick it up, right? Yes.

I bet you are wondering why all of this honesty about my kid's horrible housekeeping skills. I found something that will definitely encourage my kid to pick up her clothes. Taylor Toy Over The Door Basketball Clothes Hamper. This also encourages something else I don't like, throwing stuff in the house. I have thought my entire life, 2 wrongs don't make a right. In this case, this first time in my life, 2 wrongs (1. clothes on the floor 2. throwing stuff in the house) make a right = hanging clothes hamper.

This hamper is super easy to put together. I was able to put it together with no tools and hang it in less than 5 minutes.  Literally from opening the box to hanging it up, in less than 5 minutes. I am not a professional, it's just that simple. Its 4 screws and 2 brackets that go right on the back of the board.

This doesn't fix to the door. It easily goes right over the top of the door and hugs it.

What I love about this is it promotes independence. Kids can load it by tossing in their clothes through the top. Then when they are ready to get them into the laundry, just open the bottom to release the clothes. This is so easy to operate for any age.
