For example, 100 calories of candy is going to have a different impact on your body compared to 100 calories from broccoli. So it is about choosing the healthier options for you, that will be better for blood sugar levels and so on, rather than just counting calories and making sure that you exercise enough.

Control emotional eating

Eating to satisfy hunger is one thing, but often, we don’t always eat to feel full or take away hunger pains. We can eat when we feel stressed or when we feel anxious, which can be a way to really add on the pounds. If you are someone who eats when you’re bored or lonely, then it is important to recognize that emotional eating is something that can impact your weight loss. If you eat when you are feeling stressed, then it is a good idea to find some healthier ways to calm yourself. You could try out yoga, meditation, or even just soaking in a bath.

If you look to have snacks to help you to feel more energized, then you often reach for sugary foods that can make you feel worse after an initial spike in energy. So instead of this, going on a quick walk after lunch could make a difference, or listening to some music to perk you up could work instead. Likewise, if you eat because of boredom, then find something else to be doing. It could be calling a friend, going for a walk, or doing some housework; distract yourself and then you’ll realize that you’re not actually hungry.
