What kinds of games do you play at your holiday parties? Have you ever tried spicing it up with a gift swap? I have heard about these and seen them on movies/comedies but never had the opportunity to do one myself. I am SO EXCITED to be working with White Elephant on a review of their Dirty Santa game. Not like the "dirty dirty" guys but like the greedy, grinchy, sneaky, dirty. This looks like so much fun! I can't wait for it to get here!!
When going to a gift exchange, what kinds of gifts fo you bring?
When hosting a gift exchange, it's always good to set a budget so everyone is on the same page. Thinking about it, you don't want to bring a supersonic set of earbuds if everyone else is bringing socks, scarves, or small appliances. Well, maybe you do, it's your party- Customize It!! No matter what, you want everyone to have a great time and make sure everyone is feeling like they are getting something special. Unless you want to be the one that gives the fruit cake hahaha.
Are there age limitations?
The Dirty Santa Game is recommended for ages 8+. If you are doing a gift exchange for the whole family it is good to have kids gifts in a separate area as adult gifts. My husband (who is bald by the way) wouldn't care so much for pink hair bows and my daughter wouldn't really know what to do with non-stick grill mats if you see where I'm going with this.
How do you set up a Gift Exchange?
The purpose of the gift exchange is so that everyone gets a special gift. If everyone that comes to the party brings an anonymous gift and puts it all in the designated area. Since everyone is bringing a gift, everyone is leaving with a gift- works out perfect!
How do you pick the initial gift?
There are several ways that gift exchanges work. From what I am understanding there are no wrong ways to do it. The two ways I have heard of playing are like this-
Every gift can be numbered and all of the guests draw a number to see which gift they get.
OR
Let everyone draw a number and starting with #1 they get to pick from the pile.
Dirty Santa from White Elephant comes with 3 ways to play, and a full set of directions so there will be no confusing banter or messes of scrap paper on the floor.
