How to Start Your Own Blog For Free!
Wednesday, April 15, 2020
Blogging is so much fun. Since 2014 I have been sharing my thoughts and opinions with all of you. It has given me a purpose I never would have thought possible. I have met hundreds if not thousands of new people, been on so many awesome adventures, and have had a shoulder to lean on that's 200,000+ shoulders strong. You guys have been there for me through some of the most emotional rides of my life and didn't turn your back. You have encouraged me to get through it all with open arms and I thank you. I love sharing everything I can about it with you guys.
So, you can give it a try too, if you want. Right now, while you are home, think about something that you can share with the world and share it. Drop me a message in the comments and I will be glad to check it out.
Here are a few tips for getting started for free!!
Find your home base.
Make sure you use a platform you can navigate comfortably. There are several blogging platforms that you can choose from. Find one that has features you will benefit from. Always look for a service that will be useful to your niche like gartner master data management.
I use Blogger because it is simple. Everything is in an obviously tagged. It's perfect for a beginner all the way up to a pro. When I say beginner I mean I knew how to use social media on my computer when I started, that's it. I didn't blog, create images, manage accounts, absolutely nothing at all. You can tell from my first posts in 2014 to now, there is a huge difference.
Choose a name.
Finding the perfect name can be harder than it seems. you will want to use something that will be searchable. Something catchy that will easily be relatable to your main audience. If you are looking to do this permanently not just a hobby, find something that can evolve with you. It took a while to find a name that suited this website.
Visually Attractive
Find an app for creating images for your posts and social shares. You will want to create a visually appealing as well as a mentally stimulating site. There are many available that have a free basic service and you can upgrade for extra features. Personally, I use Canva for most of my images. They have a ton of free stock images and backgrounds to choose from. I have been using them for a few years and I am always impressed with their selections. I did choose to upgrade my account but I used their free service for about a year before I decided for sure it was the place for me. It's easier to use than other image creators and so much easier to understand. I can upload straight from my social media and publish it to my social media as well as save it to my device.
Connect your social channels
You want to make sure you post to your social channels. Close to half, if not more of my blog traffic comes from social media networking. If you make a post that is interesting enough to be a post but still leaves your audience wanting more, they will click it. If you put the whole post on your social media, they will have no reason to come to your site. Find the balance to fit you best.
Get an email provider.
Your email provider will be your best communication with your audience. When people like your information enough to subscribe, they will get emails in their inbox when you publish something new. It's an awesome feeling to connect with people like that. It's been 5 1/2 years for me and I still get excited when I connect with someone new.
