Sweeten Up Back-to-School with Domino Sugar

Have you thought about how you can get the kids into the kitchen to help and get them more interested in cooking? After all, it is a life skill. It can be science and math. For people like my sister it's a story, poetry even. Man, that girl can cook!! I don't know how she does it. I struggle with the most basic recipes and she can go into a kitchen like its Chopped and make it happen, every time!

Since there are so many amazing recipes out there, we have decided to make at least one homemade recipe a week. We are doing virtual learning so we will have some time to experiment and try something new. There are so many things to learn in the kitchen. Not to mention all of the great memories. I can't even count all of the memories I have from the other side of the mixing bowl.

In light of all of the new home opportunities, we have partnered with Domino Sugar to help you find more creative ways to add cooking to the school day. You can add cooking to every subject and make it better. Not just Tastey Math.

Sweeten Up Back-to-School with Domino Sugar

Back to school is going to look very different this year. For those parents who will be continuing virtual learning with their students, Domino® Sugar is here to share an easy lesson plan and recipes. One word— bake. Baking does a lot more than teach kids proficiency in the kitchen. In fact, it’s a chance for them to:

Learn real-world math. Measuring teaches fractions. Cutting brownies or a cake into servings demonstrates division. And waiting for the oven buzzer helps kids understand units of time.
Realize that actions have consequences. If they miss a step or measure incorrectly, it’ll show in the final product.
Put the reading comprehension and vocabulary they’ve learned to good use. Recipes let them read, absorb, and put instructions into action.
Make science feel more real. From yeast fermenting dough to chocolate changing states from solid to liquid, science is a part of every baking recipe, and this gives kids a great way to see how what they’ve learned comes to life.

The end result? Not only will your student be more proficient in the kitchen and have learned some educational lessons along the way, but now your kids will also have an easy to grab a snack for the week!

What's so convenient about  Domino® Sugar is it's available everywhere. It was a staple I'm my house growing up.
