Family Health: Avoiding A Second Wave Together

The latest news the world is getting is that Covid-19 might make a comeback even before it's left. The world is now waking up to the reality that a second wave is possible and may seem more than likely in a week or so. India has just reported a staggering 89,000 new cases in just one day! America is now passing 200,000 deaths and parts of Europe are seeing 1-2,000 cases a day rise, almost every other day. But, we will get through this by working together and having the patience to think this through as a team. Families will need to follow the same procedures, wear the same equipment, and try to enact some practices that can keep them safe. These are just some handy things and tips you can do.

Back to school

As many children are heading back to school, they will need some things with them at all times, if they are to be accepted back into the classroom. Firstly, they need to buy some masks from these types of Sellers. They don't have any kind of markings or logos on them, so they won’t cause offense or be treated as a style item. You can buy these in bulk so your children can replace them when they are used up. They are just $0.29 per mask, so you can buy quite a lot of them for the whole school term.

Giving your children a bottle of sanitizer along with some plastic gloves could also help them feel safer. Remember to inform them that they need to avoid touching their face, not be so rough and tumble with their friends during their breaks, and always keep their distance.

A redesigned key

Opening doors is one of the most unsafe things you can potentially do during this pandemic. The virus stays on surfaces for many hours, potentially days. So you need to avoid touching the handle with your fingers unless you have gloves on. However, you can use a new type of ‘covid key’ which allows you to open doors without actually touching the handles. The key can be kept on a keychain so you don’t need to worry about it.

Made out of copper, it's reasonably cheap, not burning a hole in your wallet. You simply put one finger through the hole and then hook the key onto the handle. Then pull down or just backward and the shape of the key will pull the handle down and open the door. This is something you can give to every member of your household, so they can use it at their work or whenever they feel they are in a potentially bacteria-laden area.

Shielding your eyes

Even if you're wearing a mask you can still get the virus, because it travels through the air. It can enter through your eyes if there are little tiny specs of liquid that get picked up by the wind and blown at your face. So, wearing a face shield is very highly recommended if you work close to people. This is something that will be worn by most workers. Even if you’re sitting in an office you will probably be asked to wear something like this. For those that are working with many people, such as in a manufacturing job, this is an essential piece of kit.

It's all about mitigating risk. It may be cumbersome to wear something such as this, but it can be used over and over so you only need to buy it once. The plastic shield or a vizer can be wiped clean every day, by the very same wipes you use for your hands and face.

The best sanitizer

Not all sanitizers are recommended for everyone. If you have sensitive skin you need to have a sanitizer that won’t cause you to itch by giving your dry skin.

Sensitive - If you have skin that is prone to eczema, then try the H20 Awakening sensitive. This kills 99.99% of all bacteria and can be used to protect your hands from the virus, with or without water.

Natural - If you would prefer to use a natural sanitizer for your children, then take a look at the Selfe Natural sanitizer which is made out of natural oils. This is something that you will want to give to toddlers because it's better than putting a lot of chemicals on their hands all the time. Their skin is just not ready for that kind of stripping their natural skin oils.

Soothing - If you would prefer the old fashioned way, then the Semina soothing soap is definitely something you should try. Made from plant and herbal ingredients, this will lessen irritation, protect your hands, and give you a nice refreshing scent.

Vaseline and face scrub

Because wearing a face mask for hours on end can cause your face to become irritated, using a natural lubricant like vaseline can help to bring new life to your skin. If it's raw, dry, and sore, then you can use vaseline to smooth out the skin and allow your mask to be worn without pain and annoyance. A little bottle of vaseline should be given to your children so they can keep them in their school bags and use them when they need it.

A face scrub is also something to keep handy with you, so you can wash dead skin cells off your face, around your nose and ears, where the most pressure from your mask will be exerted. You should also use your face scrub for your hands, which can get rid of dead skin on your hands if you're wearing gloves. You don’t want to become itchy and dry, but safe. Being itchy will make you want to rip off the personal protective equipment and that poses a danger to your health.

Keeping your family safe from the second wave is possible and should never be seen as something that is unavoidable. Don’t give up hope, carry on fighting hard for the safety and future of your family.
