What is your best Black Friday Sale story? This is mine. It was from many years ago and it still makes me giggle.

When I was younger (a lot younger) I worked at a big box store as a cashier. I had never shopped a Black Friday Sale, I had never even heard of it. I wasn't scared because I didn't know better, I should have been terrified. Someone should have told me, LOL!

I got the job the week right before Thanksgiving and I was very thankful I had gainful employment. It was the perfect time to be working. I was going to have a paycheck before Christmas, it was great! My very first day off of training was Thanksgiving. I was pretty happy because I was thinking it would be an easy workday. In my head, everyone was going to be home celebrating Thanksgiving, playing football in the yard with their families, napping on their favorite chair, and it was going to be a slow day. I had it all mapped out in my head. I was going to be able to have my first day off of training as a warm-up day before Friday. Friday was going to be the busy day because everyone was off work and wanting to do their weekly shopping. I have no idea what I was thinking but, it was nothing like that. AT ALL!

So, when I got to work, the parking lot was packed. So packed that there were cars all the way to the end of the lot and filling the restaurant's parking lots at the end of the plaza. I thought that was pretty weird but still, no lightbulb went off. I get to the door and there was a security guard, that was new but it was Thanksgiving. I get inside and the customer service line was all the way out the front door. Okay, another weird happening, still nothing alarming. I get signed in and get to my station and it's pretty slow. I had no idea it was the calm before the storm. I was still in my "it's a holiday- slow day" world. Man, again, I will admit, I was wrong!

The first excitement of the night was immediately after the sale started. There was a palet load of jumbo lego blocks on the first display coming in. There was a small commotion and what looked like a scuffle. Out of no-where, within the blink of an eye, a customer shoved another customer into the box of legos. All you could see of the downed customer were legs. I was in shock but, everyone else seemed like it was nothing. I kept doing my job without stalling but all I could think was- Legs are sticking out of the LEGOS!

Within an hour of clocking in, it was complete chaos and it didn't stop until the end of my shift. People were screaming and I had never, EVER seen anything like it. The customer service line was all because people had to stand in line to get tickets for the electronics that were going on sale later on and in the morning. They were cutting in line and spot stealing like little kids do. I knew then that one day, I wanted in on a sale like that.

I had no idea until the next day when my aunt called that Black Friday is an annual sale. She said she got some really great discounts and wanted to know how I survived the night. So, needless to say, that was the last time I spent Black Friday on the customer service side of the register. There is way too much going on to have to stand stationary.
