If you have decided that you want to work with kids, but you’re not entirely sure in what capacity, then you have come to the right place. Social Worker




The first option that you have is to become a social worker. In this role, it is your job to provide advice, support and information to individuals and families in order to sort out their problems. Social workers also often work with the parents of families in crisis as well as the children, and become responsible for the family. What this means is that if there is any evidence of neglect towards the child then they are duty bound to report and have it investigated. Social workers can make a real difference in the life of families and children specifically, helping to get everyone on the right track, or helping the child(ren) be kept safe.

Teacher

Another option that you have is to become a teacher. If you love kids, want to shape the minds of tomorrow, but also enjoy weekends and evenings without them, being a teacher might suit you well. There are many ways to get into teaching including through the Teach for America program that runs to help low-income communities. Teaching is a great way to give back to the community and allows kids the opportunity to become whatever they want in life. A lot of the time you find that kids just need someone to encourage them and tell them that they can do it. Believing in themselves comes when they have someone to believe in them, and you may be able to be that someone.

Nanny




Finally, if you would rather work with a couple of kids from the same family at any given time, then you could consider becoming a nanny. Nannies tend to take on a lot of responsibility for the parents while they work. This means dropping kids off at school, making them meals, helping with homework and so on. The bond between a nanny and kids can grow to be something beautiful, and if you want that special bond with a child where you can spend more one on one time with them, becoming a nanny might be the best thing for you. You get to focus a lot more on individuals becoming a nanny than you do with most other kid-related jobs.
