Children learn with play, through exploration, reading, movement and having fun. From learning with you at home to learning at preschool, children need as many ways to learn as possible so that they can develop in the right way. It takes time for them to retain a lesson, which is why you have to make learning fun. Children have to laugh and have fun if they want to stay engaged. Below, we’ve got five fun ways to help your children to learn.
Read to your children. When you read children’s books, you get to do voices, change your pitch and tone, make the reading fun. As you read stories together, you can ask fun questions and see if they will point out things like colors to you! Books are a great way to help your kids to form new sounds and learn new things.
Get physical. Children can touch and learn so much when they are given the chance. Get physical with your kids and help them with hands-on experiences, like playing with play dough and foam, colorful spaghetti and stacking sand. You can even make pipe cleaner letters and sculptures together so that you can get their hands busy.
Get messy! Art products like paints, clay, chalks, plasticine and stamps will help your kids to get a little messy without having to think about the fact they’re learning something. They can stamp letters and numbers with you, so that they can put together the things that they remember and show you a little of what they know.
Bring in the cooking. You can cook together and help them to learn textures, tastes. Teach them where food comes from and create your own alphabet cookies, potato shapes, pancakes and more. You can get alphabet cookie cutters, too, and this will help you to show your kids what the alphabet is and help them to learn it along the way.
Take them to preschool. Children are at home with us until they are school age and you have a lot of influence on their education while they’re with you. The thing is, that influence changes how they develop in school. You can use preschool to help you to teach your children what they need to know to feel prepared for school
For children to retain the information that you teach them it has to be delivered in a fun and easy way. These five options are going to help your children to better learn and feel safe in everything that they are learning - and the world becomes far more exciting to them when they do!
