3 Clear Signs You Have Pests In Your Home!

Pests are not enjoyable at all!

They’re really hard to deal with and can cause all sorts of problems for you and your home. You spent a lot of money renovating your property and making it look lovely. So, when a pest comes along and ruins that, it’s a double whammy. All your hard work is for nothing, and then you have to spend money repairing any damage the pest does to your home. Not to mention the health concerns that some pests can bring as well!

The key to dealing with pests is identifying them as soon as possible. Here are three very clear signs you’ve got some sort of pest in your home that needs to be dealt with ASAP:

Droppings

Do you notice or smell any animal droppings around your house? Mice and other rodents leave these all the time, and they are very easy to spot. Look for them around skirting boards, in kitchen cupboards, in the attic, etc. If you see any, that’s a massive indication there’s an animal in your home that isn’t one of your pets! You should probably call a preventative pest control service right away before the animals do any more damage to your property.

Breaches in your home

How do pests get into your home? Unless you leave doors and windows wide open for them, they tend to find ways in through breaches. The most common way a pest will enter your home is via the roof. Loose roof shingles or small holes and gaps in the roof are gold mines for rodents, bats, and other pests. They find these breaches and sneak their way through.

Sometimes, they create the breaches themselves. It’s not unheard of for some wild animals to gnaw through fiberboard or other wooden structures to get into your home. If you spot any breaches, be concerned that there’s a pest somewhere.

Property damage

Finally, if you notice any damage to your property, that’s a big sign something is roaming around. All types of pests can cause damage in one way or another. For example, termites are tiny but they eat through wooden structures. If your table legs suddenly have holes in them, or the wooden skirting boards look chewed up, then something has clearly been at them.

Likewise, wires and other tubing or pipes can be eaten by pests. I had one friend whose washing machine randomly stopped working, and they checked below to find one of the cables had been gnawed through. When you spot things like this around your home, that’s a pretty significant sign a pest is in there somewhere.

On their own, these signs are clear indicators that an animal or bug is roaming around your house. However, when you notice all of these signs together, you can’t afford to ignore them. As mentioned before, you spend a lot of money looking after your home, so you don’t want a pest to come in and ruin things. Take action right away by calling for help - never try to remove a pest by yourself as you could get injured or damage your property.
