How to Have a More Adventurous Life

It’s important to have a routine, but we all know how fun it can be to break out of that from time to time. You know that your normal everyday life will always be there, and there’s a lot of value in stretching yourself and doing something that is a little more exciting than what you usually do. The problem is that opportunities to have those experiences won’t automatically come your way. You need to make them happen. But good news! There are plenty of ways to do just that. In this post, we’ll take a look at some tried and tested methods for being a healthy dose of adventure into your life.

Leave Home Without Your Phone

This is a radical idea, which is pretty funny considering that, for the vast majority of human history, it was just the normal experience. But today, it seems unthinkable. Heading out into the world without your trusted smartphone in your pocket feels like an instant adventure, especially if you’re visiting a large city. You’ll find that you need to ask people for directions and for information, which can be a pretty invigorating experience. Give it a try!

Be Adventure-Ready

You’ll be much more likely to have fun adventures if you have the equipment that allows you to have adventures. For example, if you have a tent and other camping supplies, then you’ll be able to go off the beaten path and sleep under the stars, which is always a fun adventure. Another option is to look for caravans for sale, which provide a whole other level of adventure. With a caravan, you can drive anywhere and everywhere, secure in the knowledge that you have a bed for the night — indeed, you can even take it overseas. A summer road trip through Europe, anyone?!

Say Yes More Often

Adventure is out there, it’s just that most of us say no to them before they can even begin. The best adventures are unplanned; they just happen organically. But to enjoy them, you’ll need to put yourself in the right positions. That involves saying yes to invitations. Are your friends going for a hike? Say yes. Have you been uninvited to a coworkers party? Say yes. You won’t know for sure what those mini adventures will bring until you’re there, but you’ll know what you’ll get if you say no: nothing at all!

Take a Solo Trip

Finally, consider taking a trip by yourself. When people travel, they usually do it with other people. Yet, while that can, of course, be fun, it does involve playing things a little too safe. When you have someone — or multiple people — by your side, you’ll have no inclination to talk to strangers, and it’s unlikely that you’ll ever get lost or have to figure things out by yourself. When you travel by yourself, it’s just you, and that can lead to real adventure. Everyone should travel at least once by themselves — is this the year that you take a trip?
