Grow Your Own Food
One of the surefire ways you can get food with knowing exactly how it was grown and if anything was added onto it is to grow it yourself. Growing your own food can be daunting but you don’t have to do it all at once, you can start with a few things and easy things. Something really easy to start with is herbs. You can also grow them easily in an apartment on the windowsill. If you do have a garden you can grow a lot more and starting in spring is ideal as you are able to grow such a variety of different things. Don’t try to grow everything or something just because it is easy. You should grow things you know you will eat. Easy things to start with are things like strawberries, lettuce, peas and tomatoes. Once you start to grow them and have an abundance of things you can make them into things like pasta sauce and freeze them to use at a later date so you have chemical and toxic-free food readily available. It is great for lazy dinners.
Change Your Cleaning Products
A lot of the other main focuses of things in your home that can have toxic and harmful chemicals in them is cleaning products. People sometimes think you need those harmful chemicals so they can kill germs and bacteria but that isn’t the case. You can buy non-toxic laundry detergent and other cleaning products. You can even simply make cleaning products at home with just a couple of ingredients. The best things you will want to get are white vinegar, baking soda, and lemons. You may even find by switching to non-toxic laundry detergent that things like eczema improve a lot. You can buy these things in bulk and use them for lots of different cleaning tasks so you may find you also save money by not buying different sprays to clean different things when they all really do the same job.
Looking after your health should be your main priority and if you have children looking after them too. So being more mindful of what you are buying and bringing into your home will help you create a safe, healthy and better environment for you and your family.
