Start Drinking More Water
One of the easiest things you can do to improve your health is start drinking more water. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink or you’ll never get enough of it! Instead set yourself reminders to drink a glass every hour or so. Drink a glass as soon as you get up in the morning and you’ll get a head start on the day. Buying a bottle with reminders on it may also help you. Just take a bottle of water with you wherever you go and sip it regularly. You’ll be surprised at how much you can drink! Remember to drink even more on hot days and when you exercise.
Work On Your Sleep Quality
Sleep quality is so much more beneficial than sleep quantity. Quantity is important, but making sure the sleep is uninterrupted will be even more beneficial. For instance, 6 and a half hours of uninterrupted sleep will actually serve you better than 8 hours of interrupted sleep! You can work on your sleep quality by:
- Having a wind down routine that you begin at least an hour before bed.
- Avoiding caffeine after the early afternoon.
- Exercising in the morning.
- Making sure your room is completely dark with no lights.
- Keeping technology away from the bedroom.
- Keeping your phone in another room.
Find Holistic Ways To Improve Your Health and Wellbeing
There are numerous ways to improve your health and wellbeing that can all have a positive impact on your health overall. For example, eating whole foods, taking the right vitamins (although you should focus on whole foods first), stretching, and de-stressing. If there’s a specific problem you are dealing with, such as an unhealthy, painful gut, then you may need to seek help for this separately. Many health problems can be managed holistically, but there may be something else at play and you might need medication to stop diarrhea. Make sure you visit your doctor to get the go ahead before proceeding with any medication alone.
Get Your 5 A Day
Eating fruit and vegetables can be fun if you make it so! Find different ways of preparing them and pair them with different things to keep it exciting. For example, fried banana with honey as a dessert, peaches and ice cream, and kale made into crispy chips.
Just Walk
You don’t need to do a fancy exercise - walking is good enough! Try to do 1000 steps more for a week each day, and then steadily add more on.
Manage Your Stress
Find ways to cope with the stresses of everyday life, whether it’s meditation, deep breathing, or journaling.
