Moonlite Storytime Projector Brings New Life To Stories

This year we have a very special holiday season ahead of us. It's our very first year as grandparents. Every year for us is so special but, this year, it's going to be that much more special. Our little tiny grandson Easton, you stole my heart buddy!

Something that we love is tradition. We love sharing things from generation to generation so our little ones can experience all of those special moments that we got to experience. Now, we get to extend those sweet experiences with our childs' baby. Oh my goodness, yes, I am going to cry writing this post!

One thing that was very special when I was little was storytime. One of my very favorites was the little stack of books that my great-grandma kept in the kid's room upstairs at her house. Every time we got to spend the night she would read us stories and tuck us in. I love those memories!

Storybooks are still storybooks but, with technology advancing the way it does, things have changed over the years. All we had were paper books and creative grown-ups with multiple voice changes to bring life to each character, now there are so many more options to bring those stories to life. We just had the opportunity to work with MoonLite on what I think is the coolest addition to storytime since the intense voice changes.

What is Moonlite?

Moonlite is a projector that uses your phone's flashlight to bring stories to life. This is so cool and so much more than just a projector. I received the Gift Pack - Fairy Tales. This collection comes with Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Hansel and Gretel, Rapunzel, The Tortoise and the Hare, and The Ugly Duckling. Each story has a reel that you can click to show the pictures of the story right on your ceiling or wall.

What comes in the box?

I am going to start with, I love the presentation of this product. It looks like a big book. Upon opening it, you see all of the stories and reels included in the set.

Inside the box you will find:
  • 1 Projector
  • 5 Story Reels
  • Activation code
  • quick start guide

Getting started

Getting started is very easy. There is a 4 step quick start guide that walks you all the way through it.
  • Step 1. Download the Moonlite App.
  • Step 2. Insert the Story Reel
  • Step 3. Attach the Moonlite Projector
  • Step 4. Project Read Enjoy
I am going to explain it from my experience to get a little bit more in-depth on it.

Moonlite App

The app is available in iTunes and Google Play but at this time I am only using it on iTunes. I wasn't able to find it on my version of Google Play and will update this post once I have the direct link to share.
For quick reference, the iTunes link is here-

Once the app is open it walks you through step by step with learning how to navigate it. Get out the "Activation Card" that is inside the package. There is a code on the back of it that will unlock all of the stories that come in your set. Click the unlocked lock icon on the top left of the screen to enter your code. Once the code is entered, your stories will instantly begin to download.

Adding the Reel

The reel is very easy to load/unload. It's a simple push/pull motion. No tools are required. Simply pull the existing reel out and push the new reel in. It has a click sound when it's pushed in all the way. When you are loading it, look for the arrow on the face of the reel. Point the arrow to the arm on the front of the projector. That's where #1 picture will be seen.

Clipping the Projector to the phone

This part is super easy. There is a moon on the front of the screen with a target symbol on it. Line that up with your phone and it is ready to go. The image will project right on the wall or ceiling. You will know when it is the right picture because it has #1 on the picture.

Reading the story

The words to the story will be on the screen of your phone. The story pictures will be projected on the wall. While you are reading there are words that are underlined, click them and they make sounds. It's so cute! This makes a great time to open the door for parent/child bonding

This is an adorable gift set!

This is something that can start with your kids and grandkids from the size of a newborn or toddler and all the way up to them learning to read on their own. There is something so magical about storytime and this way of sharing a story is awesome. The bonding between parents and kids that happens while you transform into these little worlds of make-believe is a bond that lasts forever. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and caregivers can easily make storytime into special memories.

Picking the best stories

What are your family traditions? Do you like classic fairy tales or maybe Disney? There are several starter sets to choose from and you can always purchase more stories right on the app! It's so convenient. If you don't want to purchase a bundle, you can purchase the stories individually too. There is a whole library of stories to choose from.

No more reading a book in the dark!

When your little guys are getting ready for bed and you are tucking them in, reading a book requires a light. We always used a dim lamp to set the tone down to get comfortable and tired. Too much light kept them up. Dimmer light helped them get cozy. With the help of Moonlite, no lamps are needed. In fact, the less light, the better!

Since the storybook images are projected onto the ceiling or wall, straight from your mobile device, you won't need a lamp at all. The words are right on the screen of the phone while music plays. This is an awesome way to keep the lighting at a minimum and the interest focused in one place.

I love every part of Moonlite stories and reels. They help bring the magic of storytime to life with projections and on-screen writing. The background music is soothing and gentle. I believe this is the perfect gift idea for new parents and children, newborn and up.

You can find Moonlite on their website and social media pages.

I received this product for free as a gift to facilitate this review. If you have any questions please feel free to email me directly.
