Family adventures in Upstate New York

    I grew up in Upstate New York (Lake Placid) and I can attest that it is so wonderful for families! It is so beautiful. Now, I would love to take my children there to see the sites!

    It never ceases to amaze me what a beautiful and amazing assortment of earthy grandeurs our country possesses. I did visit Upstate New York as a young girl and remember some of it to this day. Especially Niagara and Horseshoe Falls and Shelter Island. Like one of your commenters stated, I have seen some horror movies with titles of locations there.

    Yes, upstate New York is very beautiful especially in the fall. I live in the Catskill Mountains and the views are breathtaking with the vibrant colors of the leaves. Your photos are beautiful! I've been to the beautiful Niagara Falls and stayed at the fabulous Mohonk Mountain House. Thanks for letting me know about the Kaatskill Kaleidoscope in Mount Tremper. That looks like fun for the family especially our 2 grandkids. Another beautiful place that we enjoy is the Minnewaska State Park.

    i remember when i went to a horse show in ny and i was amazed at how beautiful it was. i guess most people associate ny with nyc, full of traffic and the hussle and bussle of the city. i never really thought of ny as having rolling hills, etc.

    I have been to a lot of states, but never NE to New York! Everyone always thinks of NYC when they think of it, but I have heard that there is so much beauty there! I hope to visit one day!

    I have never been to upstate New York, hailing from the Midwest and now in California. Clearly I'm missing some beautiful scenery! I really enjoy it when bloggers display their lovely surroundings and who knows maybe I can visit on an upcoming vacation trip.

    Now that I think about it, one summer we did visit Niagara Falls. I was a kid and don't remember it too much. Wish my parents took some pics like this but it was years ago. So beautiful, even to just look at pictures.

    I have been to Niagara Falls several times. I think my favorite might have been in the dead of winter when the Falls were partially frozen and absolutely no one else was there! Breathtaking. But definitely cold.

    I have been to upstate New York, Niagara Falls and it is really pretty there, very similiar to what we have here in Northern Wisconsin, minus the vineyards. Wonderful pictures!

    I used to enjoy road trips to Upstate NY, it's so beautiful. It's nice getting out of nyc once in a while to enjoy nature. The best time time to go is autumn when the leaves are changing, such gorgeous scenery!

    My in-laws live in upstate NY and it is one of the most beautiful sceneries I have been to. We have a park we take the kids to that has a waterfall that you can hike up to and take them swimming in. It is just delightful!
