We Love Food!!
What is your favorite family dish? We love to make quick and easy stuff for the school nights so we can all still be able to enjoy a home cooked meal even though we are all so busy. Our favorite one is Taco Tuesday on Thursday.
It started out Taco Tuesday and we were faithful Tuesday celebrators for a long time. Then a few weeks in a row it got pushed off by a few days because of after school stuff and when we realized it was on Thursday every week, we kept it on Thursday.
The perfect addition to this dish is the very flavorful ¡Sabor! Texas Pete® Mexican-Style Hot Sauce. It goes great in everything. It's not just a condiment, it's an ingredient.
This is an absolute favorite for everyone in the house and it's so easy to make. This is probably my favorite 20 minute meal.
What you need it.
Taco Tuesday on Thursday
1 lb meat- (From the freezer is fine if its flat frozen or fresh ground beef, chicken or steak- pre-cooked packs are amazing on this dish)
Seasoning
Tortillas (soft or hard)
Microwave Rice (I can't cook raw rice)
Vegetables
Sour Cream, Cheese, etc
For the meat:
If flat frozen beef- throw it in a pan with a cup or two of water and lid it. Give it about 3-4 minutes, it will start to steam. Keep checking back to scrape off a layer of the cooked brown meat and flip the block over. By using the scraping method, it will give you smaller pieces of meat that are easier to throw in a taco shell for everyone to eat.
Fresh ground beef- Throw it in the pan. When it starts to brown up start chopping and flipping right away so, the meat doesn't cook too fast into meat ball sized chunks. It really is easier to season when its small pieces.
Chicken- The frozen or refrigerated chicken strips by Tyson are the ones I like to use. They are really simple warm and season.
Steak- Frozen or refrigerated strips work great too.
Seasoning packs- There are so many kinds of seasoning packs that are already perfect for taco meat. You can use what ever you are comfortable with. We like to add in ¡Sabor! Texas Pete® Mexican-Style Hot Sauce. This is something new we are using and can't believe how much of a difference it makes. It's not too hot, it has an awesome flavor.
While the meat is cooking that is the magic prep time. I like to get my tomatoes, lettuce, and onion cup up while all the meat is cooking. That is why I call this a 20 minute meal. It only takes as long as it takes for the meat to cook.
The microwavable rice and tortilla's.
As soon as the seasoning goes into the meat, throw the rice in the microwave and tortillas in the oven.
By this point, meat is simmering down, veges are cut and the rice is in the microwave and he tortillas are in the oven.
Take this time to grab some plates and the refrigerated stuff. Cheese. sour cream, sauces, and what ever stuff you want to top the tacos with.
So, If I haven't lost you in my confusion, dinner is ready to put on the plates and serve.
