Jaxson is our big guy. 80 lbs of loud vocal watch dog. He lets us know when there is a car, deer, pedestrian, bird, squirrel, and wind any where near our property. He runs and runs from one end of our yard to the other.
Not that he would do anything to anyone of those things. Seriously, the other morning we were on the porch and a squirrel was running up and down trees and hopping from limb to limb and he went running full blast to every tree trunk to look up. Eventually he sat and looked up. Me getting a front row seat from the porch watching all the crazy legged business, the squirrel was about 50 feet high on the other side of the fence line running the length of a limb, not a care in the world.
He is the kind of guy that will bark his head off at a car and as soon as the door opens, he climbs in the front seat, no matter who else is in it. That is his favorite place to ride.
The only part of him that is a guard dog is his voice, he does nothing to protect this property except let us know there is something coming close to it. He has never stopped someone from coming on our property, if he had thumbs, he would probably open the door for everyone.
Pugde is hilarious. He is such a stinker. If anyone is eating, he thinks he has to eat. He only goes to the food dish if we aren't looking. I think that is his his master plan of getting everyone to think he's starving. He will chase a dog treat at top speed and slide to get it. He is such a little guy compared to all the others but has the biggest personality of them all. He is territorial, compassionate, and funny,
He is the guy that can hear the fridge open from 5 miles away. A cheese wrapper from 10. I am not convinced he even sleeps. I think he just lays still and quiet with his eyes closed and fake snoring waiting for someone to make a plate of food. He likes everything except carrots.
Lucky, he's a whole different story. He is our Scaredy Dog. He is scared of EVERYTHING except us, and sometimes even us. We have to talk him into everything, except treats. Coming in, going out, playing, really everything. When we have company he hides under my desk. He is big. He is a lab pit mix, we are guessing. He was a rescue dog and we are certain he was abused.
If we move to quickly, he takes of running. When we put his leash on he lays on his side and falls asleep. Instantly. If he is eating and the dish scoots, he runs away. But when it's bed time and everyone is asleep, he is a big cuddle buddy.
I am his safe person. Every time he gets upset or nervous, hes under my desk. He's getting too big for that but, he makes it work. He plays so good with the other guys. They are always running and playing in the yard.
One toy they all have in common right now is the Top Cool Rubber Chew Rope. They love this thing. Jax plays keep away, Lucky plays protector, and Pudge plays chase and thief. It is so funny watching them all go for it. It is a bigger rope than I expected and I was afraid that Pudge would be too small to play with it. He was the first one to take off with it.
These guys are so much fun. I really hope that you have the love to share and the time to spend with a dog. They are amazing little blessing for us every day!

ReplyDeleteThe dog sound so cute. I have a dog to but she doesn't really play with toys, she just tears them up. Her only mission is to destroy them but she loves bones.
ReplyDeleteMy rescue Monty is a senior and he just ca't cause balls like he wants to, but a pull-toy is his dream. He would do it all day if I was willing to man the other end.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading about your dogs! Mine is getting older and only sometimes will play. He did have rope toys i the past and loved them. Kudos to both of you for being rescuers!
