Feed Your Kids Brains With Awesome ThinkFun Games

Spending time with the family and interacting is so fun around the holidays. Every year I get the kids board games of some kind. This year I am introducing them to my niece and nephew. I am so excited to bring 2 more people into the gaming world!

This is our second year with ThinkFun Games. Personally, what I like about ThinkFun games is that there is learning in every game. We have worked with them on several games including Code Master, Compose Yourself,  Rush Hour, All Queens, Houdini, Maker Studio Gears, and Maker Studio Winches. Those are all fun!!

This year it's Balance Beans and Yoga Spinner we are adding into the list.
Visual Math + Balance Board = Best Educational Gift Under $20, $17.99
Balance Beans – Balance Beans is a logic game and math game all in one. Use the Challenge Card to arrange the Red Beans. then carefully place the blue, yellow, or orange Beans on the Seesaw to keep it from teetering. When you balance the Seesaw, you are actually balancing an equation! This bean-filled logic game is a fun way to introduce young learners to elementary algebra. Balance Beans was recently named a finalist for an ASTRA Award. (Ages 5+)

Balance Beans is one of those games that  is easy for little hands to work. I love the egg shaped pieces. The cards are not standard sized playing cards and are perfect for growing learning hands to manipulate. The box makes a perfect storage container if you want to stack them on a shelf like we do but the bag that comes with it makes it great for smaller storage and travel. Options are always awesome.

The pieces sit right on the holes and don't require snapping in place. They stay on there and balance without falling over because of the mold on the plate. It's very nice for kids to have that stability.

Active Minds and Bodies + Multiple Players = Great Stocking Stuffer, $14.99
Yoga Spinner – Simultaneously stimulate and calm the mind while encouraging teamwork and physical activity. Yoga Spinner players give the spinner a whirl, choose the corresponding card, and perform the pose pictured to win the pose card. To win the game, players need to collect a card from each of the four categories of yoga poses. Yoga Spinner was recently the recipient of an Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Award and a National Parenting Product Award (NAPPA)  (Ages 5+)

Yoga Spinner is so awesome and gets the kids moving. It's so much fun to see them make the yoga poses and stretch and grow. The spinner is easy to flick and doesn't feel weighted so getting a new pose is easy.

I love being able to show them new stuff and learn new stuff with them. I really like it that the words are not just in English. This is brain food all the way!
