Planning For The Unexpected With Camping Gear

This is a sponsored post written by aarlreviews.com.

Planning for the expected a hard enough task but, when you are doing your best to be prepared for the unexpected circumstances can be a little tricky. When you are going out camping, there are so many things that you need to prepare for. You have to be able to be self-sustainable by living with what you can carry with you and what you can find in nature.

Camping accessories are awesome for making an emergency roadside bag too. Their compact design is made for easy toting and convenience, so are emergency roadside supplies. You never know when or where you will be stranded so it's awesome to be prepared.

All of the products and ideas in this post are what I think would make great ideas for emergency supplies. I've been out, stuck in a blizzard halfway in between my mom's house and my house and that's about a 6-hour drive either direction. It was scary! What are your most scary stranded memories?

I hope you like the ideas we've come up with as we do. Let me know your ideas. What will make up a great emergency roadside bag?

Light Source

First of all, you will want to cover lighting. Being stuck out in the dark is no fun at all. If you have a flat tire or something minor that you can fix on your own, you will need adequate lighting. It is no fun trying to air up or change a tire in the dark.

A lantern that I just reviewed, the SadoTech Rechargeable LED Camping Lantern, is an awesome option. It has some great features that will come in handy for sure. This is really nice for in the house too like power outages, nighttime activities,  and so on.

torch and an SOS lamp
Battery capacity- 0400mah/3.7V (Lithium Ion not included)
Easy 1 button control
3 light strengths
lightweight shockproof
Indoor or outdoor use

This light can be a torch like a flashlight or it can illuminate like a lantern. It has a red glow that gets brighter as you click them. There are 3 levels of light per method.

Cooking Source

Portable cookstoves are amazing for camping, hiking, backpacking, and emergencies. The lightweight design on this portable little stove allows for a wood fire. I am here to tell you, you don't know when you are stranded how long it will take to get rescued.

The Camping Wood Stove Backpacking Cookware Set has an easy to put together grill and comes with all of the utensils.
2 pots with a foldable handle
Fork, Spoon, Knife, Spatula
Cage for cooking

What I love about this is there is no gas needed. The wood that is needed to make this work is the small stuff you can find just about anywhere. You can use twigs, leaves, pinecones, and wood. Because gas is not needed, you don't have

Food Planning

Going for the easy to open unperishable goods is how to do it. I like easy open packs with a long shelf life. Keep in mind, you are packing for survival not luxury. Make sure you have plenty of bottled water. If you regularly have passengers, make sure you pack your bag accordingly.

Things that have a decently long shelf life.

Bottled Water
Flavoring pouches (if you don't like plain water)

Crackers
Snack Cakes
Candy Bars
Bags of Nuts
Granola Bar
Cans Of Soup
Cans of Spaghetti's
Vienna sausage
Pop Tarts
Cereal Bars
Chips

The camping wood stove is perfect for soup, spaghetti-o's, or anything else that is better cooked. One recommendation- get the cans that are ready to serve and with the pull tab on them, no water or tools needed.

Basic Upkeep Items

1 can of tire inflator
1 container of oil
1 container of transmission fluid
1 pack of fuses

Tools

Jack
Jumper Cables or Battery Pack
Tire Pressure Gauge
Lug Wrench
Screw Drivers
Blanket- to lay on in case you have to climb under the vehicle
Cones

Planning for the unexpected is tricky but doable. What are your other ideas to make an emergency roadside bag? What are the things that would help you make sure you would be ok in case of a breakdown?

If all else fails, look for help from someone like Junk Car Masters to handle the problems for you! You can make some cash off of it.

I received one or more of these products for free or a reduced price to facilitate this review. If you have any question please feel free to email me directly.

  1. This would definitely fall under my husband's purview. I'm definitely NOT a camper but he loves to camp.
