When it comes to blogging, the hardest part was getting started. I thought about it for years before I actually sat down and did it. I knew I wanted to share my thoughts and views on things but mostly just wanted to journal publicly because I needed an outlet. I would go to work and have some really long meaningful conversations with strangers and it just felt good. I wanted to be able to do it all of the time. So, I started writing reviews. From there to here, I have over 3,400 published posts on my website and a ton more for other sites.
One thing I have had much debate about over the years is where to have my blog published. I started using blogger way back when because it was free and with working a full-time job and being a mom full time, I didn't know if it would last. We all know how free time works when parenting comes into play- there is none. After it got serious, I was told to move it on over to Word Press that there would be a much better opportunity for me to grow with a much larger selection of customization. Plugins for everything you could imagine. That being said, one that has really caught my eye is the Fontsy WordPress plugin.
Why it looks so appealing are the three main features.
- Upload or Select your own fonts
- Download fonts from our wide library of incredible fonts
- No coding requires, select the fonts you want for any header type
When it comes to Blogger, there are only seven fonts available. That doesn't leave much room for individuality. My choices here are Arial, Courier, Georgia, Helvetica, Times, Trebuchet, and Verdana. That being said, it's limited.
With the WordPress font plugin there are 1,300 fonts to choose from. That is so many options to choose from. For my fellow blogger users, CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT!!
There are so many things that you can do on a blog to make it your own. One thing that I love is my sidebar. With different fonts, I can individualize each section to make it more visible and catchy.
Fonts are a large part of that individuality. Fonts can create an emotional connection with a title or section. What I mean by that is the connection with the reader and also the intensity of the message. From thin fine lines with swirls and loops to thick bold lines with exaggerated punctuation, make your statement with Fontsy.
